Electricity tariffs increased by 2.45% effective July 1

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced a 2.45% upward adjustment in electricity tariffs across all customer categories, effective July 1, 2025.

The increment follows the Commission’s Quarterly Tariff Review Mechanism, which accounts for external factors impacting utility pricing and sustainability.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 25, the PURC said the marginal increase aims to preserve the financial viability of utility service providers while balancing the economic burden on consumers.

Water tariffs, however, remain unchanged for the third quarter of 2025.

According to the PURC, several macroeconomic and sector-specific factors informed the decision including exchange rate, inflation, fuel prices, generation mix, outstanding debts and reserve capacity, and the cost of alternative fuels.
